I was the typical fat kid who loved food and hated my own image and was depressed all the time. At age 13, I was 6’ 2” weighed 250 lbs and was forced to do the President’s council of physical fitness challenge. Let’s see the highlights of that event:
• Pull-ups – Couldn’t hold on to the bar
• 600 yard run- 3:23 minutes puked after
• 100 yard run- 30 seconds felt ill
Luckily after that experience Penny Hyde my phys ed teacher pulled me aside and started talking about nutrition and exercise. After a year of working with her I was able run 400 meters under 90 seconds without PUKING and at least hold my self up on the pull-up bar.
In High school, I discovered my love of athletics and I excelled in Wrestling and Football earning all state honors. My diet was poor but I was so active it did not matter.
In College, I received a full scholarship to the University of Virginia (UVA), where I had the opportunity to play with a few future NFL Stars. UVA had the #1 ranked strength and conditioning facility in America when I arrived and under the guidance of some the greatest strength coaches in the country and I was taught how to lift properly and the importance of having an individual program.
After college my football aspirations never came to fruition I entered the work force and never found my passion.
I started experimenting on my self using the prevailing information that was out there:
• Body for life
• North American Diet
• Cabbage Soup Diet
• Grapefruit diet
• Atkins Diet
• Zone Diet
• Jenny Craig
• Weight Watchers
• Diet pills
• Starving myself
• Low fat/ High Carb
Day to day life with no goals and using diets is depressing and it took a toll on me. Even with the diet and exercise programs I gained over 70 lbs in five years after college had crippling back pain, limited range of motion in my shoulders but still saw my self as an elite athlete. Over 370 lbs at age 26 with several ailments I was turned down for health and life insurance. It was the wake up call I needed because I broke down and reevaluated my entire life. The realization that I was on a deadly path and that my exercise and nutrition plan needed help.
I spent the next few years researching the best methods for losing fat, gaining muscle and achieving that lean, athletic look everyone wants. I was personally able to recreate myself and I know that everyone of us has the power to transform ourselves into something incredible, yet confusion and lack of knowledge keep most people from ever realizing their true potential.
My goal is to give you the tools, information, and motivation to make your dreams a reality and achieve the body you never thought possible.
There is so much misinformation, especially in the fitness industry, that many people don’t know what to believe anymore.
